Katy of Chichester Copywriter has been asked to judge a creative writing competition for children by a national charity.
Disability Awareness UK is holding a writing competition for 7- 11 year olds. Children are encouraged to enter a short story or essay with a maximum of 500 words, on the theme of disability. The closing date for entries is 15th June, 2012.
First prize will be £50 for the winning entrant’s school as well as a signed copy of the book The Naturals by Sharon RC Peterson. There will also be two prizes for runners up, each worth £25.
Disability Awareness UK has been working with disabled children and adults across the UK since 1967. Their main aim is integration and they have seen how much even the most severely disabled people can contribute to the success of a project. They strongly believe that the younger a child is when first made aware of disability, the more impact it will have and the more accepting they will be of disabled colleagues later in life.
The short story competition will be judged by the charity’s patron Rev. Joanna Jepson, children’s author Sharon RC Peterson and Katy Lassetter of Chichester Copywriter. Please visit: www.disabilityawarenessuk.org for an application form.
