When you’re a freelance copywriter just resting on your laurels and waiting for clients to come knocking on your door isn’t enough. You need to get out there, meet new people and spread the word about who you are and what you do.
Chichester Copywriter does a lot of social networking online via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn but sometimes making personal contact can make all the difference. On 3rd September Kate attended First Friday, Chichester, a business event where you are likely to meet new contacts from all sectors and pick up some business hints and tips along the way. This time she swapped business cards with a producer and cameraman, an HR consultant and a designer and chatted to a few old acquaintances in the events industry too – quite a good selection!
Copywriters are of interest to all industries because all industries need well-written marketing materials. Even international companies, such as Wiley and Carte Blanche Greetings Cards, who have their own marketing and design departments, outsource to local freelancers on occasion so it’s good that people know that you’re alive and kicking both online and in the flesh.
Our West Sussex copywriter took along some clients from Cobnor Activities Centre who has recently started to promote their corporate day package. First Friday provided a great opportunity to meet business folk in and around Chichester, some who were interested in booking corporate days out and some who just wanted to brush up on their kayaking skills.
A great networking time was had by all and Pete from Cobnor Activities Centre said: “It was well worth it and thoroughly enjoyable.” There you have it. Why don’t you try networking events near you? However, if you prefer to start social networking online Chichester Copywriter can set you up and get you on your way with the How to use Twitter and Facebook to Promote Your Business consultation service.
