Having heard all the hype about the London Design Festival, Chichester Copywriter thought she’d better go and see what all the fuss was about. Seeing as there was a writers’ collective at the V&A Museum, this seemed the ideal place to start.
As part of 2010’s London Design Festival, 18th-26th September, the writers’ collective 26 leant 26 voices to 26 treasures across the British Galleries (1500-1760) at the V&A Museum, London. Each of the 26 writers was assigned a treasure from the British Galleries collection and was asked to give a personal response to the object in just 62 words, inspired by the object itself and the thoughts it provokes. Each written reflection was displayed alongside the corresponding treasure in the collection, creating a literary treasure-trove for museum visitors to discover and enjoy.
The writers who took part include former poet laureate Andrew Motion and professional writers from the commercial world. Chichester Copywriter would have jumped at the chance for such an honour and creative copywriting challenge! Here’s some of Kate’s favourite literary treasures:
