Join authors Isabel Ashdown and Juliet West as they discuss portrayals of family life in literature, revealing the secrets and taboos which influence their own fiction.
Chichester author Isabel Ashdown has written four novels. Moving between the majestic coastline of North Cornwall and the leafy suburbs of London, her latest novel, Flight (which launched earlier this month), is a story of secrets and lies – and of the indelible traces that are left behind when someone tries to disappear. Isabel is a lecturer in creative writing at the University of Brighton and, along with her adorable dachshund Leonard, is a regular volunteer with Pets as Therapy.
Juliet West was a journalist before studying for an MA in creative writing at University of Chichester. Her debut novel, Before the Fall, tells the story of a soldier’s wife during the First World War. Described by Good Housekeeping as, “evocative and powerful”, Chichester Copywriter’s Katy found Before the Fall a gripping read with memorable characters. Juliet’s second book, set in the Bognor area, is due for publication next year.
