Chichester Copywriter Good marketing starts with good words

Chichester Copywriter says Thanks Creatively…

Katy of Chichester Copywriter likes to keep her creative hand in. Some of you may know that she also runs a craft business, DillyWorm Crafts, with her mum Gill. While Katy makes, sources and upcycles jewellery with either a nature or literature theme – her Alice in Wonderland pieces went down a storm as souvenirs at the last Writers’ Retreat – Gill creates textiles, from cushions and aprons to tea cosies (pictured below) and spectacle cases.

Gill also helps out with things at Chichester Copywriter HQ, from helping to keep the accounts in order to making the baked goods for the Writers’ Retreats and writing workshops. There have been many good words spoken about Gill’s coffee and walnut cake (pictured left) which will make a (brief) appearance at July’s Writers’ Retreat in Arundel.

When our West Sussex copywriter was offered the opportunity to take part in a cushion making workshop at Susie Watson Designs in North Street, Chichester, she jumped at the chance. As mentioned, Gill’s a dab hand with a needle and cotton but Katy had not sat at a sewing machine for 18 years until last Saturday. This was the perfect opportunity for Katy to create something gorgeous for mum to say thanks for all that she does and, with Mother’s Day just round the corner, the timing was perfect!

The workshop – which took place in the lovely studio space above the shop in Chichester – started at 9.45 on Saturday morning. It only took around 4.5 hours to machine stitch and appliqué a cushion from scratch that you’d be proud to flaunt. The lovely Nem Brown of Nem Designs provided tuition for Katy and Rachel, who were both novice seamstresses, and we’re sure you’ll agree that the results are fantastic. The ladies started with a pack containing fabric, buttons and piping (all supplied by Susie Watson Designs) and overcame their fears of the sewing machine to create these (Katy’s is the one on the right with contrast stitching):

What do you think; will Katy’s mum be pleased to receive this creative feat in thanks for all of her hard work? Our crafty copywriter’s certainly pleased to have learnt a new skill and to have met some lovely ladies to boot.
