Chichester Copywriter to talk self-publishing at Independent Book Fair

To coincide with World Book Day, CHINDI: Chichester Independent Authors, are holding a book fair at The New Park Centre, Chichester, on Saturday 8th March, from 9.00 to 17.00.

Entry to the book fair is free and everyone’s welcome to come and meet with independent, self-published authors from in and around West Sussex: Helen Christmas, Jeremy Good, Christopher Joyce, Marion Kille and Andrew Weaver. You’ll get the chance to browse and buy their books and talk to them about their self-publishing journeys.

You’ll also get the opportunity to learn from local best-selling Indie author Ben Galley in a workshop entitled: Shelf-Help: An In-Depth Guide to Self-Publishing, from 11.00 to 12.00. Tickets for this are £6 in advance and can be purchased from the New Park Centre Office or they’re £8 on the day. Please note that places are limited.

What’s more, your very own Katy Lassetter of Chichester Copywriter will be in discussion with local self-published authors Mary Atkinson and Daniel Hobden. Their free talk, Should Have Used a Copy-editor…, is at 2.00 and will consider the importance of editing and marketing for the self-publishing author.

Daniel Hobden, author of The Doomsday Chronicles: Welcome to Baronsville, will reveal his experience of self-publishing his first novel. He’ll share the challenges faced as well as the solutions found, one of which was to have his book copy-edited by a professional before a re-print.

Mary Atkinson – complementary therapist, tutor and co-author of Once Upon a Touch…Story Massage for Children – will also divulge her experiences of self-publishing and successfully marketing a non-fiction eBook.

The Sussex writers will talk to Katy of Chichester Copywriter who has copy-edited and proofread for self-published authors and helped them to build their online presences through social media marketing training and Search Engine Optimised copywriting.

Why not take some time to sit and relax with a cup of tea or coffee or glass of wine purchased from the cafe bar and join in the free book swap? Bring along any books that you’ve read and that are in good condition and take home another one.

To end the day, the CHINDI authors will hold an open discussion panel about their own experiences in self-publishing where they’ll welcome questions from the audience.

Join Chichester Copywriter and myriad local independent writers at Chichester’s New Park Centre on 8th March to find out more about the self-publishing process, from planning to promotion. You’ll also be able to pick up a flyer about Chichester Copywriter’s next Writers’ Retreat!

Good to meet you at the Chindi Book Fair today. A really informative session, thank you. And, as an antidote to all those annoying people who let you know when you’ve made a mistake in your copy, I congratulate you on using ‘myriad’ in its correct form, i.e. without the ‘of’. Now I know you’re a professional!
    Onwards and upwards.
