Yesterday was National Poetry day and Chichester Copywriter decided to get out of the office and seek some inspiration from West Sussex wildlife at Arundel’s Wetland Centre. Arundel has 26 hectares of naturalised landscapes and wetland habitats, which are home to hundreds of wildfowl, many rare and threatened species, as well as a colony of gloriously velvety water voles.
Our professional copywriter felt all poetic wandering amongst the reed beds that whistled their song in the autumn breeze and where dragonflies flitted from stem to stem, laying eggs and shimmering in the sunshine. While sitting in a forest bird hide Kate watched blue tits, great tits, coal tits, marsh tits, chaffinches, bullfinches, green finches, nut hatches and robins feed on nuts amidst leaves glowing red and gold. When searching for mushrooms she was followed around meadow and woodland by a determined brigade of ducks and managed to tick off wildfowl of all hues and descriptions in her bird spotters’ guide.
The highlight of the day was a trip on the silent boat safari where five buzzards circled above, little grebes put on a ducking and diving display and water voles caused ripples while they nibbled vegetation at the edge of the reed beds.
You can’t get much more inspiration for your creative copywriting than a wildlife sanctuary in the midst of autumn:
